 Modify SVG Elements

When an SVG image has been loaded into the Inovista Animator, a tree structure of the elements contained within the image is presented in the editor panel on the left hand side of the Animator below the 'Load Image' section. The 'Modify SVG Image' section appears above the tree.

The following aspects of an element in the image can be edited:

N.B.Modify is only available for elements in the image NOT the whole image.

Clicking on the 'Modify SVG Image' tab will allow elements in the tree to be edited. A red dotted line around the element tree will indicate that the tree is in edit mode. Clicking again will end edit mode. N.B. The 'edit-->' option used to create a new transition is turned off in edit mode.

Element Reorder

Drag an element from one location to another. An element will be shown above other element higher up the tree. Elements can be dragged into groups and groups can be dragged into other groups. Note that to drag into a group, the group icon must be open (pointing downwards). To undo any reordered element changes, use the 'undo' icon on the toolbar.

Element Editing

Double Click an element in the tree to present a popup menu, the available options on the menu will be dependent on the element type and whether any changes have been made. The click on the required option.

Move/Scale/Rotate

Select this option to change how the element will be initialized when the image is first loaded.This will make a copy of the element that is to be edited. To move the image, drag it to the new location. To rotate the image, use one of the circular icons at the corner of the image. To resize the image, use the pointer icons at the corner of the image.

To save the edit, select the 'check' icon on the toolbar above the image or alternatively wait a short time after completing the edit and click on the edited element.

To stop editing without saving, select the 'X' icon.

When scaling, selecting the closed lock icon will force the image to be scaled proportionately. Unlocking will allow different scaling for the x and y axes.

Change Id


To change the Id of an element, select this option, enter the new id in the popup dialog and click 'OK'.

Contain in a Group


To place a element into a new group, select this option, enter the name of the new group in the popup dialog and select 'OK'. Groups are useful, for example, when creating transitions that run in different time scales.

Reset to Original State
This option is available for elements that have been edited and saved. Select this to return the element to its original state when loaded.


Remove Group
This option is available for empty groups. Select this to delete the empty group.


Remove Element
This option is available only when an image has been imported or loaded via the Custom Animation option as an element. Select 'Remove Element' to delete that element.
